However, when I launch the package for Wine, I'm immediately told I need to install XQuartz 2.7.7 or later first, then the package exits. That install seems to be working just fine. In its Applications menu I added Wireshark as one of the items using the "/Applications/Wireshark.app/Contents/MacOS/Wireshark" path. What did work was a suggestion found here: The only solution I have found so far is to use XQuartz 2.7.5, which will start up xterm windows and X application windows. I quit Wireshark and XQuartz and reinstalled XQuartz and saw no change in behaviour. The XQuartz project is an open-source effort to develop a version of the X.Org X Window System that runs on OS X. I am running Mavericks and the items suggested here did not work for me.
